About Me

Common Ground is a conversational game for family gatherings, designed to engage all players on how they would navigate through different life scenarios–with given constraints on age range, health, and social situation.

A six-week project undertaking a research-informed information design project. Project scope included identifying problem, developing potential solution, iterative design process, and creating visual assets.

Compared to daily conversations, this game creates a fictional character that allows players to feel non-targeting or threatening. The idea of the game started from living with my grandma and noticing tension around the subject of receiving help and communication issues with the primary caregiver. The overall design of the game presents itself as a boardgame that could be brought out at family gathering dinners, thereby generating a more approachable way to start life and end-of-life planning conversations otherwise difficult.
